11 dead, 80 injured in an accident at Kyekyewere

11 people have died with 80 injured from an accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Kyekyewere in the Eastern Region involving two buses and a truck.

The accident is said to have occurred at 4am on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.

Mr. Joseph Okai Gyan, the Director of the Ayensuanor National Disaster Management Organization narrated the accident saying  “a DAF cargo truck fully loaded with goods going to Accra, veered off its lane and crashed into two buses fully loaded with passengers, heading to Accra from Kumasi. Those who are dead are about eleven, while there are a lot of injured persons.”

The buses involved in the incident were an STC and a Grand Bird Bus  with registration number GE 8131-16 and  GT 4997-20 respectively both heading to Accra.

Victims have been rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital with the help of the Police and NADMO and the dead bodies deposited at the Morgue of the hospital
