A/R: 396 suspected criminals busted in Police swoops, 792 motorbikes impounded

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has rounded up some 396 suspected criminals in swoops at various criminal dens in its continuous resolve to curb violent crimes within the Region.

The swoops were conducted simultaneously within all the 15 Police Divisions in the Region, between Wednesday 14th September and Monday 20th September 2021.

The suspected persons arrested are aged between 17 and 55 years.

The Police in a statement noted that the arrested persons were screened and profiled and those found culpable put before the various Courts in the Region. “Some of them were remanded into custody to reappear at a later date, whilst others were granted Court bail to report,” the statement said.

Subsequent to this the various Divisions also conducted motor bike swoops from Saturday 25th September to Tuesday 28th September 2021 and intercepted 792 motorbikes and impounded same.

Some persons were arrested and have all been asked to produce the documents covering the motorbikes for inspection and verification.

According to the Police, those found to be fake will have the owners prosecuted.

The Police administration has assured the general public of it continues fight in bringing crimes to its barest minimum and to assuage the fear of the citizenry.

“All citizens are, therefore, urged and encouraged to assist the Police by giving credible, reliable, accurate and timeous information that will lead to the arrest of suspected criminals to assist in our endeavor.

“Contemporary Policing is a shared responsibility between the Police and the public, therefore, we further appeal to the general public to collaborate with the Police in the fight against these menace which is a matter of concern to all and sundry,” the statement said.
