A/R: Articulator truck kills 2 traders at Dr Mensah

Two persons have been confirmed dead after an articulator truck ploughed into traders at Dr Mensah in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region.

Other people were severly injured in the incident that occurred on Sunday, 27 February, 2022.

The articulator truck with a registration number AS- 4403-12 loaded with groundnut and bags of rice from the Northern part of the country to Kumasi-Alabar, was reported to have developed a fault in the brake and ploughed into some traders, passengers, and passersby in the Central Business District (CBD).

An eyewitness told Class FM’s Ashanti Regional correspondent Elisha Adarkwah, that people were running for their lives at the time of the incident.

“I even thought it was a drivers’ mate who had died. Because it was a mate who was able to jump out of the vehicle. What I saw was people were running for their lives,” a driver narrated.

Personnel from Manhyia Police Command conveyed the bodies of the traders to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and identification.

The injured were also rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
