A/R: Police rescues child from stolen vehicle

The Ashanti Regional Police command has retrieved a red Toyota Corolla private car which was snatched from its owner at the premises of Good Hope Chapel at Santasi in the Kumasi Metropolis of the region while a child was onboard.  

The Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyo told the media that the car was snatched by two unidentified gunmen on Sunday, 16 January 2022.

Mr. Ahianyo said upon receipt of the information, all patrol vehicles and motorbikes within the metropolis were swiftly set out in search of the vehicle and the suspects.

He said the suspects sensing danger on the approach of a police vehicle and a taxi cab, abandoned the vehicle and the child around Dakwadwom and fled into a nearby bush.

Mr. Ahianyo said the vehicle has since been driven to the regional police headquarters and the child reunited with the mother.

He said police vehicles are pursuing the suspects while all other operations units have also been activated to assist in arresting the suspects.

Mr. Ahianyo assured the public of the police resolve to continue to keep the metropolis as well as the region safe.

He, therefore, appealed to the general public to assist them with credible information that will lead to the arrest of all the suspected criminals within the metropolis and the region at large.
