Alban Bagbin officially the Speaker of the 8th Parliament

The Former Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo, Alban Sulmana Kingsford Bagbin has been elected as the Speaker of the 8th Parliament in the 4th Republic.

He polled 138 votes while his main contender, Prof Aaron Mike Ocquaye polled 136 votes with a rejected ballot.

Alban Bagbin before his Speakership role was known as the Father of Parliament as he become the longest serving MP since 1992.

He is also a former Minister for Works and Housing and also Minister of Health.

He also served as the Majority Leader in the 2009 parliament.
