A member of the National Democratic Congress and a legal practitioner has said that the Electoral Commission is ready because their incompetence is there for all to see.
He said the electoral body is not operating according to the laws of the country and wants to rule in favor of the NPP.
“We have a situation where it’s clear that the current EC isn’t ready to play by the law and wants to rule in favor of one political party. When you see a grand scheme to suppress votes, you don’t need any soothsayer to tell you.” he said.
He also said that “The incompetence of this current Electoral Commission is there for all to see. The first time we witnessed the incompetence of Madam Jean Mensah was at the Ayawaso West Wuogon elections.”
The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Richard Ahiagbah disagrees with him saying “I don’t think the EC should adjust its rules for any political party. The EC should be able to execute their duties in a way that is fair no matter the relationship they might have with any political party,”
They were on TV3’s New Day today, October 7, 2020.
This come on the back of President Akufo-Addo filing his nomination at the EC yesterday, October 6, 2020 where he said most Ghanaians have confidence in the Electoral Commission led by Mrs. Jean Mensah that they will conduct a free, fair and transparent elections.
However, the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia is expected to submit the nomination forms on behalf of John Mahama, the flagbearer of the party.
