First Deputy Speaker retains seat despite competition from Independent Candidate

The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu, also known as Joe Wise has retained his seat despite competition from Independent Candidate, Kwasi Amofa Agyeman.

He polled 40,275 votes while the controversial independent candidate polled 22,221 votes.

Mr Amofa Agyeman is a failed NPP parliamentary candidate who decided to contest as an independent candidate despite an opposition from the party.

However, Charles Oppong, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate took the third spot with 2,877 of the votes followed by the People’s National Convention’s with 102 votes.

Joe Osei Owusu entered Parliament in 2008.
