The Greater Accra regional branch of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will, on Thursday, 14 October 2021, hold its annual regional conference to account for its stewardship in the region.
The regional executives of the party are expected to tell the teeming supporters why the party lost most of its parliamentary seats in the region during the December 2020 elections organised by Ghana’s elections management body, the Electoral Commission (EC).
The supporters have not come to terms with the party losing its seats in the region and have been calling for heads to roll at the regional level.
The annual delegates’ conference is scheduled to be held at the GNAT Hall in Accra.
It is expected that some of the party’s presidential aspirants and some individuals who are jostling for national executive positions will be storming the venue to make themselves visible, as the party plans for an annual National Delegates’ Conference, which will be held in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital in December.
Thursday’s delegates’ conference will be under the leadership of the Regional Chairman Divine Otoo Agorhom and under the supervision of Regional Minister Henry Quartey, who is the MP for the Ayawaso Central Constituency.
