The President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has announced that Ghana has recorded the new COVID-19 variant at the Kotoka International Airport.
He made this known in his 22nd address to the nation on the measures taken to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
He said “Recent genomic sequencing undertaken by our scientists have established that some arriving passengers tested positive for new variants of COVID-19. These passengers have all been isolated.”
“Furthermore, work is ongoing to determine the presence and extent of the new variants in the general population,” he stated.
He also said that he has instructed the Inspector General of Police to ensure the strict adherence to the measures against the spread of the virus.
