Government Commended For Its Good Governance

The Government Needs To Be Commended In Steering The Affairs Of The Country. Government needs to be highly commended for its able leadership of the country. Since assuming office in 2017, government has not rested on its oars but has worked tirelessly, courageously and efficiently in almost all sectors of the economy from Agriculture, Energy, Education, Industries, Health, Security, Social interventions such as one district one factory initiative, creation of new regions, Zongo development, Planting for Food and Export, the digitization agenda among others.

Although government has not been able to solve all the problems of the nation, successes chalked up in various sectors of the economy show, it has done a lot to improve the living standards of the people. Before the President took over, the country was experiencing interruptions in electricity dubbed Dumsor which created untoward discomfort and hardship for a long period. However, government put in pragmatic measures to solve the problems.

Education has seen a lot of investments, expansion in the school feeding programme, provision of infrastructure and learning equipment just to mention a few. The Free SHS policy, one of the flagships programmes in the education sector has given a lot of children the opportunity to access secondary education which hitherto was a mirage due to poverty. However, this prompted the introduction of the double track system which some Ghanaians are not happy about.

Government explains however that without the double track system most students will be home due to infrastructural deficit. It is trite knowledge government is working assiduously to bridge the infrastructural  gap in schools to abolish the double track system. The restoration of teacher and nurses trainee allowances and other support to the education sector in general needs to be applauded. There are however delays in the payment of these allowances which government needs to pay attention to. Schools across the country have all benefited in one way or the other either in receiving new vehicles, buses or the putting up of new buildings and renovation of existing blocks.

The Zongo development initiative and other programmes to address the needs of people in these areas are quite commendable. This singular move by government has brought improved and quality living standards in the Zongo communities. The military and other security agencies have also benefited tremendously from government.

Road networks in most of the barracks and camps have been fixed. Equipment and logistics including fleet of vehicles and infrastructure have been provided to a large extent in the various barracks and there exist peaceful collaboration among the security agencies. In the agriculture sector government has introduced programmes such as Planting for Food and Jobs to increase food production and create employment.

Farmers across the country have benefited greatly from government’s policy on agriculture. Subsidies on seeds, plants and other inputs have gone a long way to improve the sector. Government has been able to provide over two hundred ambulances to all constituencies in the country. Though this is laudable, questions one has to answer before the ambulance goes to pick the patients causes a lot of delays.

The health sector has to look this and devise ways to make their operations swift. The one district one factory program of government is ongoing and has resulted in the creation of jobs. The digitization agenda of government is laudable bringing about transparency and efficiency in business, commerce and institutions.

Social intervention initiatives of government in alleviating the plight of citizens that is absorbing of water and electricity bills in this COVID 19 era equally deserve praise. The introduction of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) is yet another feather in the cap of government. This has given about a hundred thousand graduates jobs though not permanent some through this programme have been able to secure jobs.

The clarion call is for all Ghanaians to continue to forge behind this government in prayer for the good Lord to shower His abundant blessings on the country. Although government has done a lot in three years, more needs to be done to solve the challenges facing the country.
