The Government has condemn the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia for accusing them of the happenings in the Volta Region.

Yesterday, October 6, 2020 accused the ruling party, New Patriotic Party of been the master minds behind the happenings in the Volta Region. He also accused them of distributing weapons to vigilante groups and wants to turn the region into a war zone.

Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said it is appalling and disappointing to hear such comments for a politician of that calibre.

“When people started making ethnic inciting comments like this in Rwanda, people took it as a joke, only for hundreds of thousands to be killed. No responsible politician should take that path.” he said.

The Ofoase Ayeribi MP also called on Ghanaians to condemn such utterances.

“State institutions like the Peace Council and other well-meaning groups, like religious groups, should call out untoward political behaviour” he noted.

Appreciation the efforts made by the Chiefs and leaders of the Volta Region, Mr Oppong Nkrumah said government is grateful for their collaboration with them and offering a better understanding on the issues.

He was speaking on Asempa FM in Accra.
