Member of Parliament for North-Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has said he is ready to receive the COVID-19 vaccine dose in public.
He also encouraged Ghanaians to take the vaccine when they arrive in the country.
“As MP for North Tongu, I am absolutely ready for the COVID-19 vaccine when it gets to my turn. I look forward to publicly receiving the jab.”
“I urge all my constituents and other compatriots to do same.”
He however, this is the time for Ghanaians to believe in the country’s scientists.
“Let us all do our best to boldly confront vaccine hesitancy. It is time to develop more confidence in our scientists and ignore the conspiracy theorists.”
The first batch of vaccines will arrive in the country later this week.
Ghana, through the Food and Drugs Authority has approved AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines.
Some people have expressed some misgivings about taking the vaccines due to misinformation and disinformation.
There will be also be public sensitisation campaigns by the Local Government Service, Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, National Commission for Civic Education and Information Services Department to educate the public on the vaccination, according the Minister-designate for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
