Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Mahama has said that he will implement the recommendation in Martin Amidu’s Agyapa risk assessment report if he his voted into power.
He said what will save those culpable in the report is if they return the money to government before his government is sworn into office.
Addressing some supporters of the party at Bosomkyekye on Saturday, 21 November, 2020, the former President said “They are trying to offload Ghana’s mining royalties through a shady deal called Agyapa and when we complained, they decided to hold on. But now what we are being told is that, the President has directed that the deal be taken back to parliament and I know they will not succeed. Because the NDC is going to win this election and immediately after the victory, those people who have looted money from Agyapa should quickly return our money. Otherwise, we will work with the recommendations of the special prosecutor.”
He also promised that the next NDC government will make concrete measures to deal with corruption including Operation Sting.
He also called on electorates to vote for him and the NDC parliamentary aspirants.
