The Coalition Of Domestic Elections Observers (CODEO) has jump into the Electoral Commission’s decision to reopen registration for specific say it can provided it can register the people before 60 days to election.
The National Coordinator for CODEO, Rhoda Osei Afful said “The point is if the Electoral Commission is able to give the people the opportunity to register within this period before the 60 days then that is very much welcome.”
The Electoral Commission will reopen registration for specific groups to register and they people who could not register because of COVID-19 restrictions, people who also could not register due to the mandatory 14 days quarantine and those will could not find their names on the ongoing exhibition exercise but have been issued with the voters ID cards.
The Public Election Regulation also says among others that the Commission shall not include in the register of voters the name of a person who registers less than sixty days to that election.
