Three journalists who were allegedly attacked in connection with the arrest of some 22 alleged lesbians at Kwahu are calling for justice from the Ghana Police.

Right after the interview, we heard that the police had released the 22 they arrested.”
She said according to the Eastern Regional Police PRO, the docket had to do with the flouting of covid-19 protocols during the party.
“He said the police did not have any proof that the ladies were lesbians and so they let them go,” she said.
Explaining what led to their assault, the reporter said on Monday, March 29, 2021, they went to the house where the party was hosted to get updates and saw some of the ladies who were arrested there.

She said their phones were destroyed in the process, aside the pains from the beating.
“One woman came in and started shouting that I was part of the journalists who reported the issue and so the people in the house should sack me. Before I realised, some guys came out of the room and started driving us out. They started pulling me and hit my arm,” she said.
She added that,”They locked one of my colleagues in one of their rooms and brutalised him. They took our iphone 8 and smashed it on the ground because they said we took videos with it.”
Afia Pokua said she later lodged a compliant with the police but the officers appear to be disinterested in the matter .
“They were so relaxed and after 15 minutes they made calls to the family asking if we were there and some asked us what our mission in the house was,” she said.
“All we heard was the police had released them and we do not know on what basis they let the ladies go,” she said.
However, she said the Traditional Leaders had summoned the woman who gave out the place for the party
