The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has ended its rescue missions to retrieve bodies from a collapsed three-storey church building at Akyem Batabi in the Eastern Region.

The operation ended on Friday, October 23, 2020.

22 dead bodies were retrieved in the debris of the building including a two-year child.

Of the dead, 10 were males and 12 females.

Eight people however survived and are receiving treatment.

The building collapsed on some members of the Church of Prosperity who were praying for their founder at 2pm on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

NADMO started the search for four days but halted it for the Ghana Air Force to provide sniffing dogs to check for possible bodies that have been covered by the debris.

Ending the search, the National Coordinator of NADMO, Eric Nana Agyemang Prempeh advised that people use the right building materials and seek technical advice.
