Nepotism made me stop playing for Marseille- Jordan Ayew

Jordan Ayew said he quit playing for Olympique Marseille because some people thought he was at the club because of his father, Abedi Ayew Pele.

Jordan and his older brother used to play for Marseille before they switched to England. He said he had to prove himself during his three years stay at the club before he was given the chance to play.

“Some people thought that I was only at Marseille because of my dad. I had to prove myself, to show everyone that I deserve to be where I am today.” he said.

The Crystal Palace player also said people thought same when he made his debut for Ghana in 2009.

‘In Ghana as well, when I got called up for the national team they used to say it was just because of my dad. But it is positive for me. I like it when people talk. It gives me energy and motivates me,” he said.

Jordan Ayew has played for Marseille, Aston Villa, Swansea and is currently at Crystal Palace.
