A not-for-profit organisation, October Royals, made up of professionals of all sorts, who were either born in October or have October-born relatives and friends, has donated some much-needed items to the Handi Vangelism Orphanage Home located at Haatso, Accra.

The orphanage is home to scores of abandoned children between the ages of eight and 18.

Apart from feeding, sheltering and educating the orphans, the orphanage also has a disability camp, reading club and youth camp that caters to the needs of the beneficiaries.

As part of its annual charity works, October Royals, founded by the late Andrew Kafe in 2018, gifted the following items to the orphanage: bags of rice, bags of maize, bags of beans, bags of flour, bags of gari, bags of sugar, cartons of soap, boxes of drinks, boxes of biscuits, stationery, bottles of water, used clothing, detergents, gallons of cooking oil, packs of sanitary towels, bottles of hand sanitisers, packs of tissue and an undisclosed amount of money.

Several of the items, which were on the orphanage’s Wishlist, were rallied through the volunteerism of members of October Royals, which aims to impact lives through concerted charity works.

October Royals chose Handi Vangelism Orphanage Home as the beneficiary of its donations this year so as to support the good works the home is already doing and to encourage its handlers to keep up hope.

In a short speech, the president October Royals, Mrs Dorothy Mamphey-Otibu, said the group will keep the legacy of its late founder alive to ensure that the seeds he sowed into the organisation while he was alive, would not go to waste.

Two years ago, October Royals settled on an orphanage in Koforidua, Eastern Region. The group, in similar fashion, donated food and other items as well as funds for the renovation of the home.

In 2020, the group visited the Orthopedic Training Centre in Nsawam, Eastern Region, and also food and other items as well as an undisclosed amount of money for its operations.

In line with its motto: Impacting Lives, October Royals, which is made up of more than 100 volunteers, harnesses and mobilises resources in October every year, to assist and support the needy in society.
