Police block mourners over Covid-19 protocols

A group of police officers on Tuesday obstructed loads of mourners in a procession to the Nkurakan cemetery in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Area.

This resulted from failure of the mourners, primarily young people, to follow the nose masks putting on and limited number for burial directive.

As part of measures to guarantee the adherence, the police stationed at a checkpoint along the cemetery asked the mourners to return.

The directive produced a chaotic scene which blocked the circulation of traffic with travelers stranded.

The hearse vehicle driver, who could not stand the scene any longer, threatened to discard the remains at the roadside as his services were required somewhere else.

The mourners were, nevertheless, allowed to continue to the burial ground after talks between the police and leaders of the group.
