Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure has described the President’s fight against against illegal mining otherwise known as Galamsey as a scam.
Manasseh Azure said “I don’t think there has been any fight beyond the antics. Many of his promises have turned out to be a scam because once you decide to put your presidency on the line if you mean it, there are other things that you have to do.”
According to him, the canker is still persistent in the country even after promise to deal with it even if it meant he will loose elections at the end of his tenure.
President Akufo-Addo at the height of the fight of the menace introduced a committee known as Operation Vanguard to deal with it but Manasseh says the fight has not yielded the desired results.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, he said “It is very unfortunate that in 2020 we are still having this issue. I don’t think that beyond the words, the actions really spoke to the fact that this was somebody who wanted to put his presidency on the line.”
Manasseh also expected the president will deal with issues raised against party people in the fight against illegal mining.
