Sevilla has re-sign their former player, Ivan Rakitic after his contract of six years ended at Barcelona. He signed a four year contract to play for his former club.
This was made possible after new Barcelona Coach, Ronald Koeman made it clear to the player that he will not part of his plans next season. Sevilla made negotiations on Monday to a fee of £8m was to be paid to Barcelona depending on the club’s qualification to next season’s Europa League or Champions League in the next two seasons.
However, it will be recalled that Rakitic in December last year said in an interview that if he was to play for any of his former clubs then Sevilla will be the club he will play for.
“If the time was right then we all know that I’d be delighted to pursue this as I’ve always stated that if I was to return to one of my previous clubs then it would be Sevilla. I’m really happy to see the team do so well and they seem to be getting better each year and that’s something that greatly pleases me. My dream would be to wear the Sevilla shirt again at some point in the future.”
Ivan Rakitic made 42 appearance for Barcelona in all competitions last season. He won 13 trophies with Barca, including four LaLiga titles and four Copas del Rey.
