The Ghana Police Service has debunked claims that it will not escort ballot boxes to the coalition centres.
The National Democratic Congress said that the Police has been given a directive not to escort ballot boxes to the coalition centres.
The Director of Elections for the NDC, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah said that directive is unusual and therefore calls on the Police and the citizens to follow the boxes.
But the Police in an security update said “Security personnel will escort all ballot boxes to their collation centres before logging out of their polling station duties.”
The Service also said that voting has resumed in places when it was halted due to rainstorm.
“All allegations of crime and impropriety are being investigated. Security personnel have been sent to the Polling Stations where we have observed the absence of security presence.” the statement added.
