The University of Ghana is set to resume academic work on Monday, February 28, 2022, following the suspension of strike by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).

The university, in a statement, said the Business and Executive Committee, has approved a revised academic calendar for the 2021/2022 academic year; hence the calendar will take effect on Monday.

“The university community is informed that the Business and Executive Committee at a meeting held on February 23, 2022, approved the revised academic calendar for the 2021/2022 academic year. With the revised calendar, academic work for the 2021/2022 academic year will commence from Monday, February 28, 2022.”

This is, however, in anticipation that UTAG will soon finalise processes to fully call off the strike.

Students, staff, and faculty are to take note of this arrangement, the university added in its statement.

Lecturers of the University of Ghana on Wednesday voted to reject the decision of its mother union, UTAG, suspending the seven-week-old strike which was declared to demand better conditions of service.

In a referendum, 596 members voted to reject the UTAG decision, while 127 members voted in support of the suspension of the strike.
