We have ‘flipped’ 36 NPP parliamentary seats- Elvis Afriyie Ankrah

The Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has said that the party has flipped 36 seats that the New Patriotic Party holds.

Mentioning the seats they won at the press conference at dawn, Mr Afriyie-Ankrah said “This means the seats were taken by NPP in 2016, and we have taken them back. So far, if you look at the flips, if you put them together, we are looking at about 36 seats that have flipped.”

He said in the Greater Accra Region, the party has won Krowor, Tema East, Adentan, Ledzokuku, Madina, Okaikwoi North and Ablekuma Central.

“We’ve flipped Jomoro, Evalue Gwira in the Western Region and Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region. When it comes to Bono East, we’ve flipped Nkoranza North, Nkoranza South, Techiman North and Techiman South. In the Central Region, we’ve flipped Ekumfi, Upper Denkyira West, Awutu Senya West, Cape Coast North, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Twifo-Ati Morkwa, Asikuma Odoben Brakwa and Gomoa West.” Mr Afriyie Ankrah said.

In the Eastern Region, the NDC also won Akwatia, Upper Manya, Ayensuano.

They won Jaman North, Dorma West, Jaman South Ahafo, Wenchi and Tano South seats in the Bono Region.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah however warned its members not to jubilate yet but vigilant in the process.

“No premature celebration,” he added.
