The lawyer for Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong says he will challenge the court over the judge who is presiding over the contempt case.
The lawyer, Ralph Agyapong says he is challenge the court court because he (The Judge) was not the one Kennedy called names.
Ralph said in an interview on Joy news that “if the high court had issued a general order then it would have been different,” adding that this court has no jurisdiction to summon his client.
He also said that the court was supposed to asked for the video of the MP and not the send a summon notice to the TV station, NET2 TV.
Speaking on Newsnight with Evans Mensah he said that “if the high court had issued a general order then it would have been different,” adding that this court has no jurisdiction to summon his client.
He explained that they were also shocked to see the order of summons even though the court had failed to contact Net 2 TV on which he had made his comments for the original video.
“The normal rule is that you should apply to get the video from the source so that you can issue a summons out of that, in this case, this was not done,” he said.
Kennedy Agyapong was charged with contempt after he was seen insulting a judge presiding over a land case involving him. He was supposed to appear in court yesterday but did not because he was not personally served the notice.
