The President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has said that the 2020 general elections was free and fair contrary to what his opponents are saying.
He also commended the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress, John Mahama for deciding to challenge the outcomes of the presidential election in the Supreme Court.
Presenting his final State of the Nation Address in Parliament for his first term, the President said “I’m thankful to the Ghanaian people and God that I’ve been given the mandate to lead the country for another four more years…it’s good for the nation that in the end, my opponent, the former President John Mahama chose the legal path instead of the pockets of violence by his party after the election.”
“I recognize my main opponent in the election has gone to the Supreme Court to seek their intervention over his concerns on the outcome of the polls. It is good for the nation that in the end, he chose the legal path instead of the pockets of violence that attended the immediate aftermath of the elections.” he added.
Nana Akufo-Addo also described the 7th Parliament as the best parliament in the history of Ghana.
“I’ll like to say a special thank you to the members of this 7th parliament. I can say they have been the busiest and most productive parliament ever in the history of our country.” he stated.
