Bribe question on the BBC caught of the cuff- Mahama

Former President, John Mahama has revealed the question on bribe in an interview he granted the BBC caught him off the cuff. He said he did not expect that question and that it discourteous for the host to ask him that.

John Mahama in 2016 granted an interview on BBC where the host Peter Okwoche as the then president if he has ever taken bribe. His answer became a topic of discussion as to whether he waas been truthful. Even the NPP in opposition at that time capitalized on his answer to campaign.

Peter Okweche asked him is he has ever taken bribe and Mahama asked “As a president or as a human being? I have never taken bribe before”

He disclosed in an interview on Class Fm that the question caught him off guard

“…of course it threw me off the cuff, it was a question about have you taken a bribe before? it caught me off guard I’ll tell you that. I answered it and try to clarify the question but he kept persisting and I said no I haven’t. Of course, people took advantage of that and made a lot of noise about it.”
