The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on parents to educate their children on the COVID-19 safety protocols as schools reopen across the country.

The NCCE made the call during its public education and sensitisation on COVID-19 at Adaklu Trsefe in the Volta Region.

Deputy Volta Regional Director of the NCCE, Oral Robert Amenyo, urged parents to assist teachers in sensitizing their children on the need to observe all the COVID-19 protocols.

“You will educate your children on the dos and don’ts when they are on the campus. Gone are the days when they share water bottles, drink from the same cup and all those things.

‘But we must impress upon them that this must not be the situation as at now, because they are also aware of the coronavirus and all the education that is going on, so parents must help us in educating the children now that schools are reopening,” the Deputy Volta Regional NCCE director stated.

He further urged teachers to also set a good example for the children to emulate while they return to school.

Mr Amenyo said: “We also want to impress upon the teachers, that they must set good example for the children.

“Children normally learn from parents, they learn from their teachers and so when they see the teachers always wearing their masks, and frequently washing their hands, there’s no way, they’ll do otherwise.”
