The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan has said that the processes for the construction of drains in the constituency has already started.
She said it is her desire to end the perennial flooding at Westland and its environs.
Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan also noted that she is not doing it to attract votes but to solve a problem.
“I have been MP for just two years, this is not the first project I am undertaking. I have constructed roads and other bridges so nobody can say I doing this for votes. They can’t say that. it’s a natural disaster and we have to find solution to it. It’s a must-do project and that’s why I am doing it and not of electoral benefits,” she said.
She made this know when she joined the Hydrological Services Department to visit areas that are affected anytime it rains.
Head of Drainage Engineering, Seth Kudzordzi said “the culvert is too small to carry the flood discharges, which overtops the roads and cause the floods”.
He also said they are surveying is aimed at redesigning a new culvert and replace the already existing ones which will stop flooding in the area.
The construction project will take 2 months to complete.
