Ghana Police Service celebrates fallen heroes

The Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, 2 November 2021 held a Flag-Raising and Wreath-Laying ceremony in honour of Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty during the year.

The ceremony, held at the National Police Training School, Tesano, Accra, had the Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in attendance.   

The ceremony was in honour of some 11 Police Officers who lost their lives while performing official duties in  2021.

Dr Bawumia, in eternal remembrance of the departed souls, lit the Perpetual Flame.

He also signed the Remembrance Book.

Also in attendance, at the ceremony, was Minister for the Interior and MP for Nandom, Ambrose Dery, the Inspector-General of Police, George Akuffo Dampare and members of the Police Management Board.

There were also representatives of other security agencies, a representative of the Ga Mantse Nii Duodu Nsaaki III, Numo Blafo III, and the families of the fallen Heroes.

The Ghana Police Service celebrates Officers who lose their lives while performing their duties as ‘Fallen Heroes’ on Memorial Day annually.

Tributes are paid to the Fallen Heroes and their names engraved on a Wall of Honour which is mounted at the Police Cenetaph at the Training School.
