Former President, John Mahama has said that if he wins the 2020 elections, he will warn his appointees from taking the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for granted.
The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress said he will ensure that Martin Amidu works freely unlike the current government that is making his work difficult.
“If we come, we leave the office of the Special Prosecutor to work freely, we will maintain it because it was established by Parliament. And the point is I will warn my appointees against messing with him (Amidu) because, if he gets hold of any of them for corruption, I cannot intervene. And that should be the attitude of a President towards corruption” he said in an interview on Adom FM.
The Office was establish in 2017 after an Act of Parliament was passed.
It was set up as an Independent to lessen the burden of anti-corruption institution and also handle sensitive cases which the Attorney General cannot Handle.
