The rest are Henry Nana Boakye, National Youth Organizer, NPP, Fati Abubakar – Deputy Communications Director, Presidency and Nana Adjoa Adobea Asante – Legal Committee Member as spokespersons.
The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress in the just ended elections, John Mahama has filed a petition at the Supreme Court through his lawyers on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 challenging the election results of the presidential race.
Mr Mahama in the petition said that the results declared by the Electoral Commission in favour of President Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party were “made arbitrarily, capriciously, and with bias.”
He therefore prays the court to annul the results and order the EC to reorganize fresh elections between him and the President.
President Akufo-Addo has in response to the petition asked the court to dismiss the petition describing it as “incompetent, frivolous and vexatious”.
“That in the circumstance, the petition is incompetent, frivolous and vexatious and discloses no reasonable cause of action in terms of 64(1) of the constitution.”
“2nd respondent accordingly invites this honourable court to determine that the petition is incompetent, frivolous and vexatious and discloses no reasonable cause of action in terms of 64(1) of the constitution and sets the issue down for legal arguments.”
