Mali’s transitional Head of state, Bah N’daw, has expressed his gratitude to Ghanaian leader and also Chair of the ECOWAS Heads of State, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for the role he played up until now in aiding to resolve the political impasse in Mali.
At a conference held at the Koulouba Palace, the seat of the Malian Presidency, on Sunday, 11th October 2020, President N’daw praised the decision taken by President Akufo-Addo to convene a conference to fix the deadlock in Mali, right away after his election as ECOWAS Chair.
According to the Interim Malian President, it is as a result of the proactiveness of President Akufo-Addo and the decisions got to at the ‘Peduase Meeting’ of the ECOWAS that led to the appointment of an Interim President, a Vice President as well as a Prime Minister for Mali.
Following this development, the ECOWAS Heads of State has also lifted the sanctions imposed on Mali in the after-effects of the Military takeover, in order to sustain the handover to civilian rule, and also the process of bring back full democracy to Mali.
With the transition expected to last for a duration of 18 months, President N’daw indicated to President Akufo-Addo that he has appointed 25 persons to steer the affairs of the country, with the purpose of returning the nation onto the course of multi-party freedom.
President Akufo-Addo also gave thanks to the leadership of the interim government of Mali for the welcome accorded him and his delegation, and for their decision to work hand-in-hand with ECOWAS towards returning the country fully to civilian rule.
He ensured President N’daw of the unalloyed co-operation of ECOWAS towards the progression and also growth of Mali, and also, inevitably, the improvement of the standard of the Malian people.
