Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has been sworn in as the President of Ghana for the second term after he won the 2020 presidential election.
He won by with over 51 per cent of total valid votes cast as announced by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Jean Mensah.
The ceremony which took place at the tent of the Parliament House also saw the swearing in of the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The National Democratic Congress Members of Parliament has boycotted the event saying it does not recognized Nana Akufo-Addo as the President-elect.
Earlier, the swearing-in of the 8th Parliament was marred by chaos over the election of the Speakership which the former Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin was elected and subsequently sworn in.
However, the NDC and NPP by consensus settled on the MP for Bekwai, Joseph Osei Owusu as the 1st Deputy Speaker and the only Independent candidate, MP for Fomena, Andrew Amoako Asiamah as the 2nd Deputy Speaker.
