Ghana is today, Tuesday, 9 November 2021, participating in the maiden edition of the Africa Energy Week (AEW) at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa.

Ghana’s delegation is led by Deputy Minister of Energy Mohammed Amin Adam.

The team is made up of officials of the Ministry of Energy, the Petroleum Commission as well as other agencies.

The interactive and exhibition event seeks to unite African energy stakeholders, drive industry growth and development and put the spotlight on Africa as an energy investment destination.

Ghana, at this conference, would be re-emphasising her current position on the global advocacy for energy transition and cleaner forms of energy and reiterate the need for the conversation to be had within the context of Africa’s current growth trajectory.

Ghana will seek to make the point that oil exploration cannot be taken off her energy menu currently because of the vast oil and gas reserves Africa sit on.

The delegation is expected to make a strong case for Ghana’s gas potential, as gas is the cleanest of all fossil fuels and urge investors to come and invest in Ghana’s huge gas reserves.

The four-day high-level conference, which will feature network sessions, innovative exhibitions and other private meetings, ends on Friday, 12 November 2021.
