The Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kumah-Aboagye has allied fears that there is a looming second wave of COVID-19 in Ghana as it is happening in other countries.
He said there is no data that support such claims.
Ghana’s active cases of COVID-19 has risen to 620 and the total confirmed cases is now 48,200.
The numbers have seen a slow but steady rise in the numbers hence the concerns about Ghana may soon deal with a second wave of the virus.
But Dr. Patrick Kumah-Aboagye said “In terms of a second wave, those of us who are looking at the figures have not seen any indication in that direction. You normally would have used our moving averages, it’s still on the website, we have not tempered with it. I keep saying that we are where we are because we did many things including testing, isolation, treatment and the adherence to the protocol.”
He however urge Ghanaians to adhere to the safety protocols of the virus.
“Compliance to the protocol has reduced and it is important we all go back to it so that we do not get an even increase of cases. But, certainly, there is no hike,” he noted.
