Senior Journalist and managing editor of the Insight newspaper said some politicians will go for loans to pay for the filing fee that the Electoral Commission announced some days ago.
The EC announced on Monday, September 14, 2020 that the filing fee for presidential and parliamentary candidates is GHC100,000 and GHC 10,000 respectively.
Some political parties have express their pleasure saying the fee is exorbitant with some calling for a review in the fee. The National Democratic Congress (NDC), Convention People’s Party (CPP), All People’s Congress (APC) and Progressive People’s Party (PPP) are some of the parties that have asked for a review in the fee.
But speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, Kwesi Pratt said “There are some who go for commercial loans for filing fees and campaigns. If he is not lucky and he loses then his world comes to an end. This filing fee is too much…If we want corruption to escalate, let’s continue to do what we’re doing….,“.
