Former Minister of Roads and Highway, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini has said that the Minority in Parliament have been vindicated on the Agyapa Deal.
He said the Special Prosecutor’s corruption assessment report has vindicated them because they have always raised concerns about it but the Majority do not see it as important.
Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, the ranking Member of Parliament’s Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee said “When I raised these concerns in Parliament and the Speaker overruled me, I walked out of the chamber because we were engaged in constitutional illegality. In fact, Martin Amidu says there was no law. Well, I have been following this matter and I agree with Martin Amidu. I have seen the date that the President assented to the Bill and the day that the law was gazetted was way after the 14th of August 2020 so there is really a problem.”
Alhaji Fuseini also said the report has shown the level of partisan politics in the August House.
“That also exposes the partisan nature of politics in Ghana and particularly Parliament. No matter the gravity of the matter, the Majority will treat suggestions of the Minority with impunity.” he said.
The Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu in a corruption assessment report to the President said the deal was not comprehensively consulted and laws were sidestepped to appoint a transaction advisor.
